I am editing my website and adding text tags to my images. For clearer understanding of my question I will give an example. I sell tapestries, currently my text tags on the tapestry images says, Celtic tapestries, indian spreads, wall hangings. However, my competitors will show a tree of life tapestry and their text tag will say “tree of life”, if it is a tree of life tapestry, or what ever the name of tapestry happens to be. Should I change my text tags to be similar to my competitors or is it ok to leave them the way they are? Do text tags have anything to do with helping ranking, or indexing?
